Naturals RHP Alec Marsh has won the Double-A Central Pitcher of the Week award for the week ending May 9th. Marsh threw 5.0 no-hit innings in his start on Saturday against the Arkansas Travelers. Marsh walked three and struck out nine in the performance. The Naturals kept his pitch count relatively low at 85.
Marsh touched 101 on the stadium gun which was running a little hot at about +4. His actual velo was 94 to 97. Marsh spent time working on developing his velocity in the last year. Marsh throws a curve, slider, and change to go with his power fastball. Marsh has been described as having the body of a starter with some electric stuff. With Marsh, it looks like the Royals have another starting pitcher prospect to keep a good eye on as he works his way through the system.
