The third round pick of the 2015 draft, Anderson Miller split the year at High A Wilmington and Double A NW Arkansas where he slashed .263/.330/.376/.701 between the two levels. Upon his proposition to NW Arkansas(.230/.263/.296/.559), he did not do nearly as well as he did at Wilmington (.290/.378/.439/.817) which is expected for a 23 year old at a new level.
He hit 11 doubles, 4 triples, and 7 home runs at Wilmington. Here he hit an opposite field homer and he does have an interesting swing. From a crouched stance, he uses a quick, slap-shot type swing and uses his arms to bring his arms through. He does not have a lot of moving parts to his swing, but I would like to see him stand a taller in the box and generate power from his hips in 2018.
Miller started out his career in center-field, but was moved to right-field soon after he was drafted. On the 20-80 scale, his arm ranks 60, speed as 55, and fielding as 60. He certainly does have a cannon for an arm, as seen below. He plays good defense across all the outfield positions and should be a serviceable outfielder for years to come.
We have Anderson Miller ranked in our top 100 at number 37 and 2018 will really be a make-or-break year for him. Especially with the likes of Seuly Matias and Khalil Lee hot on his heels, making their way through the ranks. Look for the 23-year-old to start the year at Double A NW Arkansas and hopefully he will prove us wrong and turn out to be a top player in the Royals system.
