Doubles

AAA Omaha (11-7): W 3-1
Gabriel Cancel hit his 3rd HR of the season, Kyle Isbel hit his 1st, and that’s all that Omaha needed to pull this one out. Daniel Lynch struck out 6 in 5.2 innings of 1-run ball. Grant Gavin picked up a strikeout in 1.1 perfect innings of relief. Omaha is back in action tomorrow night at 6:35.
AA Northwest Arkansas (9-8): L 5-7
The Naturals hit five doubles on Tuesday evening, two coming from 1B Nick Pratto. Pratto was the only Natural to tally multiple hits in the loss. Bobby Witt Jr. finished 0-3 with a pair of walks. MJ Melendez was 1-4 with a walk. That’s about all that was doing for NWA. They’re back at it tomorrow at 7:05 with Stephen Woods Jr. on the bump.
A+ Quad Cities (13-5): L 7-11
The bats came alive Tuesday night and the pitching staff had their first speed bump of the year. Go figure. Asa Lacy was dominant on the mound to start things, striking out 5 in 4 innings of work, walking just 1 and allowing just 3 hits (one of which was a check swing). Lacy’s last two starts have been excellent, striking out 11 in 9 IP with just 6 hits allowed, 3 walks, and 1 ER.
Offensively, Nick Loftin finished 2-4 with his 2nd career HR for QC. Jeison Guzman finished 2-4 with his 6th stolen base. Nate Eaton was 1-5 and stole base #10 on the year. Michael Massey was 2-4 with a BB and a SB.
A- Columbia (11-8): L 3-4
Ben Hernandez didn’t have his best night, but he was tough when he needed to be and kept the game under control for the Fireflies. His final line was 3 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 ER, 70 pitches, 43 strikes. Marlin Willis was fantastic in relief, striking out 6 in 2.1 scoreless innings. Kale Emshoff hit his first professional HR to tie the game in the 9th inning. Maikel Garcia finished 1-4 with a BB. Diego Hernandez tallied a pair of hits, pushing his season average to .283.
Royals Farm Report 
Lacy getting more settled with his control is a good sign. I would expect move up in June – is that half way through the season? I like pitchers who can hang in there without their best stuff like Hernandez did last night. Kale Emshoff has big time power. Any chance he moves up at midseason since he is a college guy?

Lacy may be a July guy, his control is still pretty erratic, but as soon as they think he’s figured it out he’ll fly. Ben Hernandez is awesome. Emshoff has big power but is also swinging and missing a ton. No rush with him.
