AAA Omaha (2-1): W 4-3
The Storm Chasers got the job done in extra innings last night against a good St. Paul Saints (Twins) team. The pitching staff combined for 19 K and just 3 ER in 11 innings. Edward Olivares, Kelvin Gutierrez, Anderson Miller, and Kevin Merrell all had multiple hits, including Merrell’s walkoff single in the 11th. Miller added his first HR of the season. Kelvin Gutierrez and Kyle Isbel both doubled. RHP Ronald Bolanos will take the ball for Omaha tomorrow night at 7:05 PM.

AA Northwest Arkansas (2-1): L 2-4
It’s been a slow start offensively for much of the Naturals’ lineup. Bobby Witt Jr. finished 1-5 with a hat trick’s worth of strikeouts, Nick Pratto and Brewer Hicklen went 0-4, and the Naturals tallied 16 total strikeouts in last night’s loss. Marcelo Martinez tossed 5 impressive innings, allowing just 2 H, 0 BB, 1 ER, while punching out 9. Stephen Woods Jr. gets the start tomorrow night for the Naturals beginning at 7:10 PM
High-A Quad Cities (1-2): W 9-8
The River Bandits got their first win of the season Thursday night thanks to a 10 walk performance by the Cubs’ pitching staff. Jeison Guzman, Vinnie Pasquantino, and Nate Eaton all recorded multiple walks in the game as Quad Cities scored 9 runs with just 4 hits. Nate Eaton finished 2-3 with a pair of walks and pair of stolen bases. Nick Loftin homered in his first AB and finished 1-2. Nolan Watson made his first relief appearance since having Tommy John surgery, striking out a pair of hitters in 3.2 IP. Yohanse Morel struck out one in the 9th inning for his first professional save. LHP Anthony Veneziano will take the mound for the River Bandits tonight at 6:05 PM.
Low-A Columbia (1-2): L 0-1, W 5-0
The Fireflies split a double header on Thursday in a makeup of their Opening Day game that got rained out. In game one, Anderson Paulino and Delvin Capellan combined for 4 K and just 1 ER in 6.2 IP, but got walked off with two outs in the 7th after failing to score a run. Darryl Collins finished 1-3 with a walk in game one.
In game two, AJ Block made his professional debut and struck out 8 batters in 4 IP, allowing just one hit. Matt Stil struck out 5 in 2.2 innings in relief and Ismael Aquino slammed the door closed to seal the first victory of the season for Columbia. Maikel Garcia collected a pair of hits in game two and Felix Familia finished 3-4 with a double. Kale Emshoff and Tucker Bradley recorded their first professional hits in game two as well. Brady McConnell finished 1-4 with a double.
RHP Ben Hernandez, the Royals 2nd round pick of the 2020 draft, will make his professional debut on the mound tonight for the Fireflies.
