Here are 11 numbers I’m watching early on in the minor league season.
Del Rosario is doing a ton of things well right now. He’s throwing more strikes, he’s keeping the ball in the yard at a better rate than last year, he’s not walking as many batters, and his ERA is an org-best 1.66. The only thing he isn’t doing well is getting swings and misses. It kind of looks to me like folks have just given up trying to hit his curveball and stopped swinging at it.
AAA Omaha (19-19): W 11-2
The Storm Chasers were firing on all cylinders last night with Jackson Kowar on the mound. Nick Pratto homered twice, Vinnie Pasquantino went deep and doubled, the bullpen did not allow a run, and the Storm Chasers are back to .500.

AA Northwest Arkansas (16-19): L 0-5
Alec Marsh allowed the first two batters of the game to score, and then struck out 10 of the next 17 batters that he faced. The offense couldn’t get anything going in a rare shutout for the Naturals, as they mustered just three hits and a walk in the loss.

A- Columbia (11-25): L 5-6
Another hard-fought loss for the Fireflies last night. The pitching staff has really struggled against what is a very good Myrtle Beach lineup. Only Eric Cerantola and Frank Mozzicato have really been able to hold them down so far. Luckily for Columbia, Ben Kudrna is set to make his professional debut tomorrow.
