Two matinee games today with the Omaha Storm Chasers playing at 11:05 am and Quad Cities playing at 12: 10 pm. Just a note before we get into it today.
- Daniel Lynch got hammered a few times in St. Louis last week, but there were some positive to take out of his first start as well. He generated some whiffs with both his fastball and slider, and he used his changeup enough that it looks like it can certainly be a useful pitch for him against RHH. Big start for him tonight as he looks to help the young pitchers rebound from their early struggles.
- Drew Parrish has just been okay to start off this spring, but I still have a lot of optimism about him moving forward. His control, which has been one of his best traits so far in his career, has been spotty at best and that should improve with more innings. The stuff looks good and I actually have been encouraged with his fastball early on, despite some overall mediocrity in terms of results.
- Christian Chamberlain has been outright nasty this year, but he’s also battled his command in the early going. He missed almost all of last season, so I’m not concerned there, but once that command improves he’ll be a force for that Quad Cities team.
- Noah Cameron improved immensely from start one to start two last week. The St. Joe native has some intriguing stuff and should be fun to watch in Columbia this year.
