- The Royals turn to Carlos Hernandez today in what is something of a big outing from the big RHP. With the struggles that the 2018 draft class has had early on, the Royals really need one of their young arms to step up and establish themselves in this rotation.
- Alec Marsh was dominant in his first outing of the season. When he’s right, there’s an argument to be made that he’s the best pitching prospect in the system over Asa Lacy. We need to see him be more consistent, and stay healthy, but if he throws like he did last week all season, we could see him in the big leagues before the 2022 season ends.
- Ben Hernandez didn’t give up any runs in his first outing of the season and looked great doing it. His fastball has all kinds of life to it and his changeup is still the dominant force we saw before the 2020 draft. His curveball is still a work in progress, at best, but there’s a lot to like about this kid for now. Long-term he will certainly need that breaking ball to develop.
