Kaufman is what the Royals ought to pray Frank Mozzicato looks like in 4 years (97 mph fastball from the left side with a ++ breaking ball).

AAA Omaha (41-28): L 1-3

The Storm Chasers just cannot get in a rhythm this week. Daniel Lynch is now with the big league club so Jake Kalish will start for Omaha tonight. Omaha is off to Toledo for the week after today’s game.

AA Northwest Arkansas (37-33): W 7-2

MJ Melendez is a man among boys at AA at the moment. He hit HRs #22 and #23 last night on the way to a Naturals victory. He kind of got left behind when Bobby Witt Jr. and Nick Pratto went to the Future’s Game and then AAA, but he certainly has not been forgotten. I wish the Royals could find a spot for him at AAA but they certainly aren’t hurting anything keeping him in NWA either.

Box Score:
– Clay Dungan: 2-5, HR, K
– Dairon Blanco: 1-5, 2 K
– MJ Melendez: 3-4, 2 HR, BB

– Austin Cox: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 R

A+ Quad Cities (45-24): L 4-6

It was nice of Quad Cities to take it easy on Peoria for a night. The middle of the order was held silent and Anthony Veneziano gave up 4 HR in 4.2 IP. Back at it again tomorrow.

Box Score:

Rough night for the Fireflies after dismantling Augusta in a double header earlier this week. Foster Griffin looked great in a rehab start for the team in game two. Kale Emshoff hit another double. – Juan Carlos Negret: 1-4, HR, 3 BB, 2 K
– Diego Hernandez: 1-3, BB
