Minor League Minutes: 7/23/2021

We released prospects 36-45 in our top 50 rankings yesterday.

#42: Carter Jensen, C

Acquired: 2021 MLB Draft (3rd Round)
Bats/Throws: L/R
Age: 18

I had the pleasure of watching Jensen play twice this spring and I just could not be more impressed with the bat. If Carter had more natural loft to his swing, he’d have been a top 2 round pick. He hits the ball on a frozen rope most of the time and I watched him hit the piss out of the ball a few times that would’ve gone 400 feet if he would’ve hit them a little higher.

Make sure you check out the weekly leaderboard update.

BB%

1.) Rudy Martin – 17.0%
2.) Nick Pratto – 16.8%
3.) Meibrys Viloria – 16.4%
4.) Logan Porter – 16.3%
5.) Travis Jones – 16.2%

AAA Omaha (40-27): L 5-7

Omaha lost another tough one with Witt Jr. and Pratto in the lineup. Jackson Kowar should be going tonight so hopefully they can get back on track. This may be the best collection of prospects that Omaha has had in 10 years so hopefully they’re able to cash in on that here soon.

Box Score:
– Rudy Martin: 2-5, 2B
– Bobby Witt Jr.: 2-5, 2B
– Nick Pratto: 1-5, 2 K
– Edward Olivares: 1-4, HR, K
– Kyle Isbel: 2-4, 2B
– Grant Gavin: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 0 R
– Carlos Sanabria: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 0 R

AA Northwest Arkansas (35-33): L 3-6

The Naturals are also currently in a bit of a slide in the absence of Pratto and Witt Jr. Vinnie Pasquantino hit a mammoth of a HR last night, but the offense couldn’t muster much more against a potent Drillers pitching staff. Yefri Del Rosario will pitch for NWA tonight.

Box Score:
– Clay Dungan: 1-4, SB
– Dairon Blanco: 0-2, 2 BB, SB
– MJ Melendez: 2-4
– Vinnie Pasquantino: 1-4, HR
– Jimmy Govern: 2-4, 2 2B
– Drew Parrish: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 K, 2 ER

A+ Quad Cities (45-22): L 4-5

Can’t win ’em all. Michael Massey and Seuly Matias got the night off and the River Bandits spared a certain death from their opponent. Charlie Neuweiler will be on the mound tonight.

Box Score:
– Nick Loftin: 1-5, 2B, K
– Tucker Bradley: 1-5, 2B, 2 K
– Maikel Garcia: 1-5, K
– Jake Means: 2-3, K
– Nate Eaton: 1-3, BB
– Noah Murdock: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 0 R
– Peyton Gray: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 ER

A- Columbia (34-32): W 12-2, W 16-5

The Fireflies seem to have found their stride. They absolutely boat raced Augusta last night in a double header. Rylan Kaufman was fantastic. The offense was explosive. Saul Garza appears to have put a much needed jolt in the bats.

Box Score:
– Burle Dixon: 5-7, 2B, 2 HR
– Omar Hernandez: 1-2, HR, 2 BB
– Darryl Collins: 0-6, BB
– Kale Emshoff: 3-5, 2 2B, 2 K
– Saul Garza: 2-4, 2B, K
– Herard Gonzalez: 3-4, 2B, BB
– Rylan Kaufman: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 8 K, 1 ER
– Adrian Alcantara: 6 IP, 8 H, 0 BB, 6 K, 5 ER
