- Brady Singer takes on Gerrit Cole tonight in New York. I’m sure all eyes will be on this game as it will be Gerrit Cole’s first game since MLB announced it will be checking pitchers periodically for foreign substances.
- Brady Singer’s ERA isn’t great, but he does have a 3.44 FIP this season and has allowed just 5 HR in 68 IP. It’s gonna be important for him to continue that trend with a short porch in LF at Yankee Stadium.
- I imagine some combination of Eddie Butler and Jake Kalish go for Omaha tonight. That’s who followed up Lynch last time. The Storm Chasers have a double header tomorrow as well so pitching could get interesting.
- This will be Angel Zerpa’s AA debut tonight. He was dominant at A+ for Quad Cities. I question whether his fastball will play at the upper levels so we’ll get a look tonight. His offspeed stuff is fantastic and he commands his fastball really well, he just doesn’t throw it very hard or spin it very fast. It was a well-earned promotion, in any case, and I’m excited to get to watch him tonight.
