AAA Omaha (29-12): W 7-4
The best record in MiLB will stay in Omaha for at least another day. Emmanuel Rivera continues to be an absolute terror for opposing pitchers. He finished Sunday’s game 3-4 with HR #13 and 2B #10, pushing his season average to .303 and his OPS to .980. Remember, he started the year 1-16 so he’s really had to get hot to get his season OPS anywhere near 1.000. Ryan McBroom hit HR #14 in last night’s victory. Nick Dini and Angelo Castellano tabbed a pair of hits each. Daniel Lynch allowed 9 hits in 4 IP, but struck out 4 and only allowed 2 ER. Grant Gavin did not allow an ER in 3 innings of relief. Richard Lovelady and Tyler Zuber each threw a perfect inning to close things out. Omaha heads to Des Moines this Tuesday.
AA Northwest Arkansas (19-20): W 8-2
Nick Pratto hit his AA (yes, all AA leagues) leading 12th HR in yesterday’s victory (BWJ technically still has 11). MJ Melendez smacked his 4th double. Brewer Hicklen hit his 5th double. Bobby Witt Jr. finished 2-4 with a walk and 2 stolen bases. Jon Heasley threw 5 innings of 1-run ball. Northwest Arkansas will return home on Tuesday after a two-week road trip looking to get back to .500 as they host the Arkansas Travelers.
Both Quad Cities (A+) and Columbia (A-) were rained out yesterday. Quad Cities will hit the road starting Tuesday night in Beloit, Wisconsin, and Columbia will be at home for a 6-game series.
Alex, with the serviceable bullpen arms like Speier, Zuber and Lovelady, were you surprised that Swarzak got called up to KC this week? Seems odd to me with the younger guys available especially Zuber pitching with better command.

No, he had an option that allowed him to elect free agency if he wasn’t called up.
