Well, that Royals game last night was…..something else.
Make sure you check out the latest edition of the RFR Podcast. Joel and Alex recap week 1 of MiLB and Will Klein joins the show to talk about his first week in pro ball.
AAA Omaha (4-3): L 0-2
Carlos Hernandez played with fire in the first couple innings but managed to work through 5 scoreless innings for Omaha last night, striking out 6. Ryan McBroom and Meibrys Viloria both finished 1-3 with a double and that’s about all the offense that Omaha could muster. Scott Blewett on the bump tomorrow at 5:15.
AA Northwest Arkansas (4-2): W 5-1
Rudy Martin hit a freaking NUKE in the bottom of the 8th inning last night, a go ahead GRAND SLAM to win it for the Naturals. Jonathan Heasley looked awesome in his 5.2 innings of work, allowing just 7 total base runners while striking out 6. Brewer Hicklen and Dennicher Carrasco both finished 1-2 with a double and a walk. Bobby Witt Jr. finished 0-4 with 3 K. Pratto was 0-4 with 2 K. Jonathan Bowlan on the mound tomorrow night.
A+ Quad Cities (4-2): W 12-5
This Quad Cities team is a lot of fun to watch. LHP Angel Zerpa struck out 7 in 4.2 innings of work to start things off. Will Klein came in pumping gas. Yohanse Morel threw some filth. Vinnie Pasquantino homered again. Nick Loftin tripled. Whew. That was a fun game. Highly recommend tuning into a River Bandits game next time you get a chance. I would imagine that Asa Lacy will be on the mound tomorrow night.
Box Score:
– Nick Loftin: 1-5, 3B
– Vinnie Pasquantino: 2-4, HR
– Nate Eaton: 2-3, 2B, 2 SB
– William Hancock: 2-3, 2B, 3B
– Angel Zerpa: 4.2 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 7 K, 3 ER
– Will Klein: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 K, 1 ER
– Yohanse Morel: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 ER
A- Columbia (4-3): W 4-3
A phenomenal start by Delvin Capellan and a late single by Brady McConnell were just enough for the Fireflies last night. Capellan struck out 5 in 4 innings of 1-run ball to lower his season ERA to 2.70. Anderson Paulino struck out 4 in 4 innings of relief. Diego Hernandez tacked on a couple more singles to raise his season BA to .421. Maikel Garcia doubled. Darryl Collins finished 2-4 with a triple. Eight different Fireflies recorded at least one hit and all nine reached base at least once. Matt Stil will start tomorrow night. I would imagine AJ Block piggybacks off of him.
