Minor League Minutes: 5/8/2021

AAA Omaha (3-1): W 4-2

Another good night for Omaha’s pitching staff lead the team to their 3rd victory in 4 games. Ronald Bolanos fired 5 innings of 2-run ball, striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 5 hits for the Storm Chasers. Mike Shawaryn and Jace Vines struck out 5 in 4 scoreless innings of relief. Ryan McBroom finished 2-3 with a walk and Kelvin Gutierrez added a pair of hits, including a double, and finished 2-4. Jake Kalish goes on the mound tonight for Omaha.

AA Northwest Arkansas (2-2): L 2-4

It rained like someone had built a giant ark in Arkansas last night. Stephen Woods Jr. got roughed up a little bit in his start for the Naturals, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs in 2.1 IP. Yefri Del Rosario made his first appearance since 2018, striking out 1 in 1.2 scoreless innings in his AA debut. Clay Dungan finished 2-3, Bobby Witt Jr. was 1-2, and rain washed this one out after 4 1/2 innings. Alec Marsh makes his AA debut tonight for NWA.

High-A Quad Cities (2-2): W 8-6

After dropping the first two games of the year, the River Bandits are looking for their first winning streak tonight with 2019 draftee Grant Gambrell on the bump. Jimmy Govern finished 3-6 last night with a double and 4 RBI. Seuly Matias finished 2-6 with his first double of the year in a winning effort. Dante Biasi fired 3 scoreless innings in relief of Anthony Veneziano with 3 K and 0 H. Adam Lukas picked up the save.

Low-A Columbia (2-2): W 12-2

2020 2nd round pick Ben Hernandez made his professional debut on the mound for Columbia last night. He walked in a couple of runs in the 3rd inning, but struck out 4 in 2.2 IP. Walter Pennington, Christian Crosby, and Marlin Willis fired 6.1 scoreless innings of relief with a combined 12 K and just 2 BB. Diego Hernandez finished 3-5 with a double and a stolen base. Maikel Garcia finished 2-5 with a walk and 2 stolen bases. Tucker Bradley went 2-3 with his first professional double, 2 stolen bases, and a pair of walks. Rylan Kaufman takes the bump for Columbia tonight.
