The Alabama Crimson Tide OF was off to a great start this spring hitting .429/.554/.750. Gentry had six double and four home runs providing power from the Alabama four-hole. Scouts really like his power giving him a 60 grade. Gentry has a strong arm and profiles in one of the corner outfield spots. His running ability is slightly above average.
The biggest concern is his strikeout rates which were around 25 percent. However, this spring, Gentry had 10 walks, 10 strikeouts, and 7 hit by pitches. Gentry had hits in 16 of his 17 games this spring. If he has turned a corner with his approach, the Royals may have struck gold.
Gentry went to Walters State as a freshman where he hit 18 home runs. He transferred his sophomore year and was a solid player in the Alabama lineup.
Gentry is a sneaky athlete who seems to do a lot of things well. He is a little raw but there is room for development.
