We’ve been hearing rumors and it is finally coming out. Although it hasn’t officially been announced by MLB yet, multiple reporters are reporting the 2020 MLB Draft will be held in Omaha starting Wednesday, June 10.
The first and second round will be held on the first day. Rounds 3 through 10 will be Day 2 and the rest will be on June 12. The College World Series festivities will begin June 12 with Fan Fest and open practices while games will begin June 13. This will give fans the opportunities to celebrate and watch their teams draft picks who may be competing in the CWS. MLB and the NCAA have done a nice job slotting the draft in between the Super Regionals and the CWS.
Although we don’t know if the draft will be open to the public, MLB watched the NFL Draft held in Nashville this last year with thousands of fans in the streets cheering. I can’t imagine a scenario where MLB won’t want to market the players of tomorrow and where the NCAA will not market their current and future stars.
Royals Farm Report has rooms booked and we are ready to go and bring you Royals news on the ground from the Draft.
