Per the request of one of our followers, I threw together a depth chart for the Kansas City Royals organization, all the way down to Low-A ball. Understand that these aren’t necessarily in any particular order after the starters, but it should help put a place on Royals prospects.
Don’t forget to check out the “Morning Roll Call” later this morning for today’s lineup of minor league games!

My gosh. Brett Phillips will not stop hitting. Finished 3-3 with a triple and a walk tonight. His season OPS in Omaha is up to .863. His OPS in June was 1.018, July OPS is now 1.035. Were beginning to not have just a SSS anymore.

Josh Staumont gave up a HR but also Kd 5 in 2 IP.
Gabe Cancel has slumped a bit of late but finished 1-2 with a pair of walks tonight.
— Royals Farm Report (@RoyalsFarm) July 19, 2019
Nick Heath finished 2-5.
It’s good in the sense that they clearly like him and want to do everything possible to find him a spot. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
— Royals Farm Report (@RoyalsFarm) July 19, 2019
Bad news is, if he plays a lot of 1B, that significantly hampers his prospect value. Huge disparity between playing 1B and 2B, obviously.
Perfect night from Nick Pratto tonight. 2-2 with a double and 2 walks.
— Royals Farm Report (@RoyalsFarm) July 19, 2019
Blake Perkins finished 2-5 with a pair of HR.
Good outing from Gerson Garabito tonight.
— Royals Farm Report (@RoyalsFarm) July 19, 2019
6 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K (got hosed on a call that would’ve given him 8).
Final line on Charlie Neuweiler tonight:
— Royals Farm Report (@RoyalsFarm) July 19, 2019
5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K.
Rubendy Jaquez is 2-3 with a double.
Lexington tied 2-2 top 7.
Also, Khalil Lee now leads all qualified Texas League hitters in BB% at 13.4%.

It will be interesting to see who Kansas City decides to protect from the draft this offseason. Gabe Cancel, Nick Heath, DJ Burt, Yunior Marte, Gabe Speier, are some of the other big names that will have to be protected. Here's a link to the full list:https://t.co/ikTdMAmfIs

For all of MJ Melendez’ struggles this year, he has shown steady improvement since bottoming out in mid-April. The numbers are never going to correct in 2019, so it’s probably better for us to stop paying attention to them as a whole. Melendez’ OPS post ASB is .805. 136 wRC+. pic.twitter.com/kD7ibNw3fq

All 3 of those guys breaking ball RPM rank in the top 7 in the organization among guys in FG list of Royals prospects.
— Royals Farm Report (@RoyalsFarm) July 18, 2019
There are guys like G. Gavin who register ++ breaking ball RPMs that aren’t on FG list, but you can’t help but wonder if KC had a specific target in the draft.
Oh hey. Rudy Martin is back with Lexington.
