Minor League Minutes for 7/1/19: Bobby Witt Jr. makes professional debut

We have begun releasing our 2019 mid-season Royals prospect ranking update. It looks pretty similar to the list we put in the E-Book, but with updates for 2019 draftees with a few other adjustments as well.

#55: Foster Griffin, LHP

  • Age: 23 (July 27, 1995)

  • Birthplace: Orlando, FL

  • Bats/Throws: R/L

  • Ht: 6′ 3″ Wt: 220

  • Acquired: 2014 MLB Draft

  • 2019 stats (Omaha): 74 IP, 5.35 ERA, 68 K, 37 BB

Robert did a little power inventory for the Royals system to answer the question: “Who will the next Royals home run record breaker be?”

Khalil Lee, OF:

Lee is an interesting player, he’s got good raw power and in 2017 he hit 17 home runs in 121 games as a 19 year old at Low-A Lexington. Everybody was excited for the future of Khalil Lee after that season, thinking if he could cut down on his strikeouts he would take a huge stride forward as a prospect.

Don’t miss our interview with 2019 draftee Tyler Tolbert.

Q: What’s your favorite/best position to play in the OF?

Tyler: “Centerfield is my favorite position to play in the outfield. It allows me to be the commander of the outfield and utilize my speed and athleticism to track down balls and make spectacular plays.”
