Minor League Minutes: 06/13/19

The Royals organization officially got their man on Wednesday afternoon when Number 2 overall selection in the 2019 Draft Bobby Witt Jr. Officially signed on the dotted line. Witt signed for full slot value of the Number 2 overall pick of 7.7899 Million.

Drew breaks down 3rd Rounder Grant Gambrell in his Film Study.

“Reading reports and watching highlight videos, Gambrell was supposed to be 91-95. In this game he ranged from 87-92 with the fastball with a lot of 88 and 89s. This is why I’m wondering if he is completely healthy because his diminished velocity, inconsistency with locations and control, and lack of life on some of his pitches gave me mixed reviews. “

Robert has a Player Profile on Josh Dye

“Dye’s delivery is a little herky jerky with a lower arm slot. Dye is not overpowering as his fastball only sits in the upper 80s, but he features a decent slider that he throws at 78-81 MPH and an above average change-up that also sits 78-81. “

Arms out on the Royals Farm continue to get more and more polished as the season goes on. That was on display with Lexington Wednesday night.

There were rumors circulating early Wednesday that Bubba Starling might get his call up to the Bigs Wednesday, but for now he joined his Omaha teammates in Sacramento and played CF Wednesday night. With the Royals set to play in Omaha Thursday night it would appear for now it was just rumor. Bubba has had a great start to his June with Omaha.

It was not the greatest of outings from Wilmington lefty Kris Bubic Wednesday night.
