The Surprise Saguaros defeated the Scottsdale Scorpions last night 2-0, thanks to a team effort from a group of Royals pitching prospects.
- Scott Blewett started the game for the Saguaros pitching 4 shutout innings with 4 K and only 1 BB.
- Arnaldo Hernandez pitched 2 innings in relief, striking out 1 and walking none.
- Grant Gavin also pitched 2 innings in relief, striking out 3 and walking his only base runner of the evening.
- Walker Sheller picked up the save in a perfect inning of relief.
- Khalil Lee also represented the Royals in this game, batting 9th and playing CF. He went 0-4 with a pair of K’s.
This is not an unimpressive outing for the Royals pitchers. The Scottsdale Scorpions lineup featured the likes of Andres Gimenez (MLB.com’s #55 overall prospect), Peter Alonso (MLB.com’s #58 overall prospect), Taylor Trammell (MLB.com’s #17 overall prospect), Abraham Toro-Hernandez (Astros #21), and Arquimedes Gamboa (Phillies #11).
The Royals have had some extremely impressive outings so far in the Arizona Fall League. It’ll be fun to watch them continue to succeed. Stay tuned later today for one in particular.
