Minor League Minutes: 7/23/18

We released the first edition of our “Weekly Review” this past Saturday morning. The idea will be to give you a quick recap of Royals minor league action every week. Check it out here.

Once you’ve checked out the weekly review, go ahead and go over to our Twitter poll and let us know what you think:

The Royals made yet another trade with the Washington Nationals on Sunday.

A decent five-toolish prospect coming up though the minors, he had a breakout season last year in Washington, slashing .251/.313/.498. He has struggled this year with contact, hitting only .200/.321/.354.

Joel ran a quick update on how some of KC’s 2018 draft picks have been doing so far.

Austin Cox (Burlington): P, 5th Round

4 G, 2.70 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 30 K/5 BB, 16.2 IP

Austin Cox is off to a great start in Burlington nearly striking out two per inning. With a WHIP around 1, he is commanding his pitches well. He looks like another college arm that is primed to excel in the system.

Last chance to catch up on our mid-season prospect rankings before the next edition comes out at 9:30.
