The Royals have made their second trade with the Washington Nationals this trade deadline, flipping minor league reliever Jacob Condra-Bogan for major league outfielder Brian Goodwin.
With the recent injury of Bubba Starling, the Royals has very little outfield depth in the upper-minors and at the major league level. In Goodwin, they’re getting a good defender that can play all three outfield positions. A decent five-toolish prospect coming up though the minors, he had a breakout season last year in Washington, slashing .251/.313/.498. He has struggled this year with contact, hitting only .200/.321/.354.
The Royals sent away a relief arm that can hit the upper-90s in Jacob Condra-Bogan. A signing out of the Independent League this offseason, he was having quite the season in Lexington at 23-years-old.
Goodwin will likely rotate between center field and right field with Rosell Herrera and Jorge Bonifacio for now.
