Royals Farm Report Week in Review: 7/15 – 7/21

In an attempt to give you guys one place to catch up on all this past week’s action, the writers here at Royals Farm Report are going to start giving you a weekly review of sorts. Every Saturday at 8 am (provided that readers like this) we’ll run a weekly recap of all the action from the previous week’s action on the Royals farm. It’ll resemble our daily Minor League Minutes posts, only cover a week’s worth of action and have a bit more content than our daily Minutes. Without further ado, enjoy our first go:

Drew recaps the week for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (7/9-7/15).

I broke down a few different metrics looking for a historical comp to Richard Lovelady. There are several good outcomes.

  • Shane Bieber: 20.5 K/BB, 49.4% GB%, 13.3% SwStr%, 2.5 FIP

  • Will Smith: 12.75 K/BB, 52% GB%, 38.8% SwStr%, 3.25 FIP

  • Alex Claudio: 6.22 K/BB, 62.4% GB%, 28% SwStr%, 2.44 FIP

  • Richard Lovelady: 10.25 K/BB, 69.9% GB%, 13.3% SwStr%, 1.48 FIP

Mid-season prospect rankings update: 30-26.

Is there any one out there quite like Khalil Lee? Looking for historical comps for one of KC’s top prospects.

Hey there, Nicky Delmonico.

Mid-season prospect rankings update: 25-21.

23. Yefri del Rosario, RHP

2018 Stats (A-): 7 G, 33 IP, 5.18 ERA, 8.45 K/9, 3.82 BB/9, 34.3% GB%

Marcus takes a look back at the Kelvin Herrera trade. It may not look quite the same in hindsight.

Perkins on the other hand has put up a very respectable .274/.396/.369 line with a 14.4 percent walk rate, 20.2 percent strikeout rate, and six stolen bases in 22 games.

The Royals have already promoted tons of prospects in 2018, so I made a convenient place to keep track of all of them.

The Royals are likely to have one of the top three picks in next year’s draft, so Drake broke down some high school bats that could potentially go number 1.

Whit Merrifield would make a ton of sense for the Cleveland Indians.

Look, Whit Merrifield has been worth more in terms of fWAR by himself (3.2 fWAR) than the entire Cleveland Indians outfield has as a unit (2 fWAR).

Mid-season prospect rankings update: 20-16
