With the 212th overall pick (seventh round) in the 2018 MLB Draft, the Royals have selected Tyler Gray, RHP out of Central Arkansas.

RANKINGS
Baseball America: #300
Minor League Ball: #339
After stacking up on some larger frame pitchers, the Royals went with a smaller framed one, grabbing right-hander Tyler Gray out of Central Arkansas. The first senior the Royals have selected, Gray wrapped up a very successful college career in the Southland Conference as a starter, after bouncing between the rotation and bullpen his first three years. In 97.2 innings, Gray has posted a 3.32 ERA, striking out 116 batters this year, walking 31. This season came after he declined to sign with the Minnesota Twins last year, who took him in the 20th round of last year’s draft.
The stuff isn’t tantalizing, as Gray owns a fastball that’ll sit in the lower-90s. He also features some average secondaries in a slider and curveball. He’ll do all his work with location, having a good feel and confidence with all three pitches.
Warning: states his favorite team is the St. Louis Cardinals
