With the 18th pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, the Kansas City Royals have selected RHP Brady Singer from the University of Florida.
I did not expect Brady Singer to be here at #18. The consensus #1-2 pick in the draft a year ago, Singer slid after a bit of a rough start to his 2018 campaign. The ace of the Florida Gators’ staff, Singer features a brilliant fastball/slider combo that figures to rise through the minor leagues very quickly.
Here’s a quote from the Philly Inquirer: ““I’d take Singer if I was them,” an American League scout said. “He’s a little bit like [Aaron] Nola in that he is very competitive, he throws strikes and his stuff is above average, especially his fastball. He has a chance to be a middle-of-the-rotation guy, if not better than that, and it could happen fast.”
This guy could be in KC’s rotation very soon. He’s probably a #2 at his peak, but I’d expect him to be a mid-rotation starter.
