The Storm Chasers continue their home stand with the New Orleans Baby Cakes and the Round Rock Express coming to town, they did something they have not done during the 2018 season to this point with a Storm Chasers player doing so well that he won a player of the week award, and the bullpen keeps on rolling.

Tuesday May 22 vs New Orleans Baby Cakes
The second game of the home stand has Heath Fillmyer taking the mound seeking his third win of the season. He went a stron 7.0 innings giving up only one earned run on four hits with three walks and three strike outs. Josh Staumount came in for 1.1 innings of relief giving up one unearned run on three hits with one strike out. Luis Vasquez entered the game for his second appearance for the Storm Chasers going the last 0.2 innings and gave up nothing while lowering his ERA to 18.00. Someone lit the bats on fire before the game and the Storm Chasers knocked out 9 runs on 15 hits. Everyone knocked around a ball in this hitfest, however there were no extra base hits. Cam Gallagher led the pack with three hits while Schwindel, O’Hearn, Orlando and Arteaga got two hits each. Logan Moon was the lone batter to knock in more than one run while Lopez and O’Hearn each scored two runs. One interesting thing about the game is that while there were so many hits the Storm Chasers did not walk one time but did strike out nine times with Gallagher and Schwindel being the only ones not to strike out. Storm Chasers win the game 9-2 with Fillmyer (3-3) getting the win.
Wednesday May 23 vs New Orleans Baby Cakes
Game three of the series has Scott Barlow making his sixth start of the season going 7.0 innings giving up four earned runs on seven hits (including one home run) with one walk and six strike outs. Eric Stout goes 1.0 nearly perfect inning giving up just one hit. Brandon Maurer went 1.0 scoreless innings giving up one hit with two walks and getting all three outs by strike out. The offense cooled off a bit with seven hits being led by Billy Burns, Cam Gallagher and Humberto Arteaga each getting two hits. Gallagher and Arteaga also got the only extra base hits for doubles. Frank Schwindel got the only other hit and drove in two runs. Storm Chasers win 5-4 with Stout (2-1) getting his second win and Maurer (3) getting the save.
Thursday May 24 vs New Orleans Baby Cakes
The fourth and final game of the series saw Glenn Sparkman make his third start for the Storm Chasers going 5.0 innings and giving up five earned runs on seven hits (including two home runs) with one walk and no strike outs. The pain did not stop there as Richard Lovelady came in for his worst outings of the season. He managed to go only 0.2 innings giving up five earned runs on three hits 9 (including one home run) with two walks and no strike outs. Kevin Lenik came in to stop the hemorrhaging and went 2.1 scoreless innings giving up just one hit with one walk and two strike outs. Mike Broadway finished off the last 1.0 innings giving up only three hits. If that game on Tuesday was a hitfest then this one also included desert as the Storm Chasers banged out 17 hits. Everyone with an AB got a hit and only Mondesi and Schwindel scored at least one run. Orlando, Lopez and Arteaga each racked up three hits with Burns and O’Hearn getting two. O’Hearn, Gallagher, Arteaga and Lopez each had a home run with Mondesi, Orlando and Olloque each got doubles for the other extra base hits. Mondesi and Arteaga each had three RBIs with Orlando scoring three runs. The Storm Chasers walked three times (two by O’Hearn) and had only two strike outs. The Storm Chasers win 11-10 with a walk off home run by Jack Lopez (2) with Broadway (3-0) getting the win.
Friday May 25 vs Round Rock Express
The first game of the series has Trevor Oaks taking the mound in search of his third win of the season. He goes 7.0 innings giving up one earned run on six hits with no walks and four strike outs. Making his third Storm Chasers appearance Luis Vasquez goes one scoreless inning giving up one hit and getting two strikeouts. Josh Staumont comes in for 1.0 perfect innings. Once again everyone in the line up gets a hit as the Storm Chasers pound Round Rock for 17 hits and 11 runs in the game. The hit parade is lead by Cam Gallaher and Humberto Arteaga with three hits each. Mondesi and Arteaga get two of the four extra base hits for doubles while Jack Lopez gets his third triple and Frank “The Tank” Schwindel clobbers his seventh home run. Schwindel, Orlando, Arteaga and Moon each knock in two runs. Terrance Gore got one of the hits then stole his 12th base. Storm Chasers get their fourth win in a row 11-1 with Oaks (3-3) getting the win.
Saturday May 26 vs Round Rock Express
Jonathan Dziedzic gets the start in the second game of the series hoping to continue the teams winning ways. He goes 6.0 near perfect innings giving up no runs on two hits with six strike outs. Willy Peralta finished off the last 3.0 innings of the game giving up one earned run on two hits (including a home run) with one walk and five strike outs. The bats were a little quite this game as they managed only seven hits. Only Paulo Orlando managed to have a multi-hit game. There were three extra base hits with Billy Burns getting a double, Humberto Arteaga getting a triple and Adalberto Mondesi getting his third home run. Frank Schwindel also knocked in hit team leading 34th home run. Storm Chasers win their fifth in a row 2-1 with Jonathan Dziedzic (2-5) getting his second win and Peralta getting his first save.
Sunday May 27 vs Round Rock Express
Game three of the series saw Heath Fillmyer taking the mound and going 5.0 innings giving up seven earned runs on 12 hits (including one home run) with two walks and three strike outs. Richard Lovelady entered the game and went 2.0 innings giving up one earned run on two hits with one walk and two strike outs. Mike Broadway and Brandon Maurer each go 1.0 innings giving up a combined zero runs on three hits with one strike out. Humberto Arteaga led the Chasers in hits with two of them with Olloque and Mondesi getting doubles for the only extra base hits. For the first time in nearly a week the Storm Chasers loose a game ending their five game win streak. They loose 3-8 with Heath Fillmyer (3-4) taking his fourth loss.
Monday May 28 vs Round Rock
Game four of the series had Josh Staumont making his first start of the season going 4.0 innings giving up one earned run on one hit, a home run, with one walk and three strike outs. Jake Kalish made his 2018 Storm Chasers debut going 4.0 innings giving up one earned run on five hits with two strike outs. Kevin Lenik finished off the final 1.0 inning giving up no runs on no hits and getting one strike out. The bats stayed fairly quiet even though the Chasers got nine hits. Two players (Orlando with four and Arteaga with two) accounted for six of those nine hits. Three of Orlando’s four hits were doubles with Olloque chipping in a double of his own. Storm Chasers go on to win their sixth of the last seven games 3-2 with Jake Kalish (1-0) getting his first win and Lenik (1) getting his first save.
Humberto Arteaga won the PCL player of the week for May 21-27 while going 16 for 26.
Storm Chasers finish up the series with Round Rock on Tuesday then head out to Oklahoma City for a five game series before a day off on Monday. They will return home on Tuesday June 5 for a series with El Paso and Albuquerque.
