Tuesday May 15 @ New Orleans Baby Cakes
Jonathan Dziedzic gets the start going 4.0 innings giving up five earned runs on nine hits with two walks and two strike outs. Kevin Lenik came in for 0.2 innings and had quite a bit of trouble as he gave up four earned runs on one hit with three walks. Eric Stout came in the game for 1.1 innings and met the same results as the last to pitchers. He gave up three earned runs on three hits with two walks and a strike out. Josh Staumont entered the game for 1.0 inning giving up one earned run on two hits. Things were so bad that Humberto Arteaga came in to finish out the last inning of the game giving up three earned runs on three hits including a home run with one walk. The bats managed eight hits with Ramon Torres leading the way with two singles. Frank Schwindel, Ryan O’Hearn, Cam Gallagher, Paulo Orlando, Humberto Areaga and Manny Olloque each got hits with Gallagher getting the only extra base hit for a double. Storm Chasers loose 0-16 with Dziedzic (1-5) getting the loss.
Wednesday May 16 was an off day.
Thursday May 17 @ Iowa Cubs
Heath Fillmyer went 4.0 innings giving up three earned runs on five hits with three walks and two strike outs. Justin Grimm entered the game for his second rehab appearance and went 1.0 scoreless inning giving up one hit and getting two strike outs. Wily Peralta entered the game and had one of his best performances of the season. He Went 4.0 scoreless innings giving up only one hit and getting five strike outs. As the game went into extra innings Brandon Maurer entered the game for the last 1.1 innings and gave up one unearned run on one hit with one walk and one strike out. The offence had one good inning when they scored three runs in the eighth inning. Jack Lopez and Humberto Arteaga both had doubles while Paulo Orlando hit his fourth home run. Billy Burns got two singles and Ramon Torres added in his own single. Burns, Orlando and Arteaga drove in one run each. Storm Chasers loose in extra innings 3-4 with Maurer (0-3) takes the loss.
Friday May 18 @ Iowa Cubs
Scott Barlow took the mound going 4.2 innings and gave up four earned runs on eight hits including (two home runs) with two walks and three strike outs. Richard Lovelady came in for 2.1 innings giving up no runs on one hit with one walk and two strike outs. Justin Grimm entered the game for 1.0 inning giving up no runs and two hits. Mike Broadway ran into trouble during his 0.2 innings of work. He gave up two earned runs on two hits (including one home run) with one walk and two strike outs. Eric Stout finished the last 0.1 inning on no runs and no hits. The offence woke up for a bit and knocked out 15 hits that garnered eight runs. All batters in the starting line up got at least one hit with Humberto Arteaga getting three hits including two doubles. Ryan O’Hearn went 2-4 with a double and his second home run of the season. Cam Gallagher joined in with his first home run. Burns, O’Hearn, Gallagher and Arteaga all drove in two runs each. The Storm Chasers hung on for a much needed win. Richard Lovelady (2-1) got the win.
Saturday May 19 @ Iowa Cubs
Glenn Sparkman got the start on Saturday and went 7.0 innings giving up no earned runs on four hits with one walk and two strike outs. Josh Staumont went 1.0 innings giving up one earned run on three hits with one walk and one strike out. Brandon Maurer must not have been feeling good because he pitched a perfect 1.0 innings to finish off the game. The Chasers batters picked up right were they left off the last game. They got 12 hits, however a double by Burns and a triple by Gore were the only extra base hits. Frank Schwindel led the pack going 4-4 with two RBIs. Burns, Gallagher and Gore each got two hits. O’Hearn and Gallagher both drove in one run each. The Storm Chasers hung on and Sparkman (2-0) earned the win and Maurer somehow did not give up any runs to get his second save.
Sunday May 20 @ Iowa Cubs
Coming off a two game win streak the Chasers sent Trevor Oaks to the mound to start the game. Oaks pitched a good game going 7.0 innings giving up two runs (no earned runs) on four hits with two walks and three strike outs. Eric Stout finished off the last 1.2 innings giving up one earned run on two hits with one walk and one strike out. The bats cooled off as only four player got a hit and only one extra base hit by Ryan O’Hearn who hit his third home run. Lopez, Logan Moon and Manny Olloque had the other three hits. Storm Chasers loose 2-3 with Eric Stout (1-1) taking the loss.
Monday May 21 vs New Orleans Baby Cakes
Wily Peralta makes his first start for the Storm Chasers and goes 2.1 innings giving up two earned runs on five hits (including one home run) with three walks and two strike outs. Keven Lenik came in for 2.2 innings of relief giving up one earned run on one hit with one walk. Luis Vasquez made his Storm Chasers debut going 0.1 innings giving up two runs on two hits with one walk. Richard Lovelady took over for 1.2 innings giving up one hit with one strike out. Justin Grimm took over for 1.1 innings giving up three earned runs on three hits with one walk and two strike outs. Mike Broadway finished off the last 0.2 innings giving up a home run. Adalberto Mondesi returned to the Storm Chasers line up batting lead off and going 1-4 with and RBI. The rest of the team banged out 10 more hits with Ryan O’Hearn getting the only extra base hit which was his fourth home run of the season. Arteaga led the team with three hits with Burns and Gore each knocking out two each. Storm Chasers loose 5-9 with Justin Grimm (0-1) taking the loss.
