The weather is warming up and we are still waiting for the storm to be stirred up as the Chasers continue to struggle, injuries take a toll and the first non-pitcher gets called up to the show.

Tuesday May 8, 2018 vs Iowa Cubs:
The Storm Chasers begin a four game series against the Iowa Cubs at home. Kyle Lohse made his first start for the Storm Chasers to a disastrous outcome. He went 4.2 innings giving up seven earned runs on 10 hits (including a home run) with two walks and four strike outs. Josh Staumount entered the game and went 2.0 scoreless innings giving up no hits, three walks and a strike out. Richard Lovelady made his 12th appearance and first since getting roughed up for a season high three earned runs to the Baby Cakes three days earlier. He went 1.2 innings giving up one earned run on three hits with no walks and two strike outs. Mike Broadway finished off the game with the last 0.2 scoreless innings getting one strike out. The offense continued not scoring very well managing just six hits with Hunter Dozier leading the way with two of the hits and both RBI’s. O’Hearn, Orlando, Gallagher and Lopez each had one hit. Kyle Lohse took his first loss as the Chasers lose 4-8.
Wednesday May 9, 2018 vs Iowa Cubs:
Trevor Oaks (2-2) makes his sixth start for the Storm Chasers and goes 5.0 innings giving up three earned runs on seven hits with four walks and two strike outs. Eric Stout took the next 2.1 innings giving up one earned run on three hits with no walks and three strike outs. Kevin Lenik made his ninth appearance going 1.2 scoreless innings giving up one hit and getting two strike outs. The batters continued to hit the ball and score few runs. Cam Gallagher racked up three hits to lead the team as well as driving in one run. Torres, Dozier, Arteaga, and Gore each had one hit while Lopez drove in the only other run. Schwindel had the lone extra base hit with his seventh double of the season. Oaks (2-3) takes the loss.
Thursday May 10, 2018 vs Iowa Cubs:
Jonathan Dziedzic makes his seventh start of the season with a great rebound after giving up seven earned runs in his last game. He goes 7.0 scoreless innings giving up three hits with one walk and eight strike outs. Andres Machado makes his first relief appearance of the season after making six starts. He goes 0.2 innings giving up one earned run and one unearned run with one walk and one strike out. Brandon Maurer was involved in a miracle when he came into finish off the game. For only the third time in nine appearances Maurer did not give up a run. Even better, he only gave up one hit and got one strike out. The Chasers continue to hit but have problems scoring the runs and this game is no different. Seven batters had hits in the game with Jack Lopez and Billy Burns each collect two hits while Paulo Orlando gets his second home run and collect all three RBI’s. To make things worse this was also the game that Bubba Starling injured his oblique again and has since gone on the DL. Dziedzic picks up his first win and Maurer gets his first save as the Storm Chasers win 3-2.
Friday May 11, 2018 vs Iowa Cubs:
Heath Fillmyer makes his seventh start going 6.0 innings giving up three earned runs on eight hits with three walks and four strike outs. Richard Lovelady came into the game for 2.0 hitless innings giving up one walk and getting one strike out. Mike Broadway put in his work for 0.2 innings giving up one earned run on one hit with three walks. Fireballer Josh Staumont came for the last 0.1 inning and got a strike out. The bats showed up a couple time through out the game with Burns, O’Hearn, and Orlando getting singles and Frank Schwindel getting the lone extra base hit, again, with a double. Cam Gallagher and Paulo Orlando drove all the runs, one and three respectively. Torres, Dozier, and O’Hearn scoring those runs. Fillmyer (2-3) took the loss as the Chasers loose 3-5.
Saturday May 12, 2018 @ New Orleans Baby Cakes:
Scott Barlow makes his fifth appearance and fourth start going 3.2 innings giving up four earned runs on four hits, including a homerun, with three walks and four strike outs. Wily Peralta cam in for 3.1 scoreless innings giving up two hits and getting two strikeouts while lowering his ERA to 7.04. Kevin Lenik finished the game with 1.0 innings giving up one earned run on two hits giving up one walk. Burns, Dozier and Orlando each had two hits and Arteaga got one of his own. There were no runs scored as the Chasers got blanked and Barlow (1-1) took the loss.
Sunday May 13, 2018 @ New Orleans Baby Cakes:
After going 3-2 in Northwest Arkansas Glenn Sparkman got the call up to Omaha. He made his first start going 6.0 innings giving up one earned run on four hits with two walks and four strike outs. Brandon Maurer came in and had a second good game in a row going 1.2 scoreless innings giving up one hit and lowering his ERA to 9.45. Josh Staumount took over for 0.2 innings giving up one earned run on no hits and three walks with one strike out. Eric Stout closed out the last 0.2 scoreless innings with one strike out. Nine hits were generated by the offense with Burns, Gallagher, and Gore each getting two hits, O’Hearn and Orlando getting one hit each and Frank Schwindel getting the only extra base hit with a double. The bottom of the line up drove in all the runs with Gallagher, Arteaga and Gore driving in all three RBI’s while Ryan O’Hearn scored twice and Schwindel and Gallagher also score a run each. Sparkman (1-0) gets his first win and Stout (1) gets his first save.
Monday May 14, 2018 @ New Orleans Baby Cakes:
It was a busy day for the Rosters. Hunter Dozier got called up to the Show, Justin Grimm started a Minor League Rehab stint, and Manny Olloque made his AAA Debut. Trevor Oaks took the mound going 5.2 scoreless innings giving up two hits with four walks and two strike outs. Richard Lovelady went 1.1 scoreless innings giving up one hit. Justin Grimm made his first appearance for the Storm Chasers going 0.2 innings giving up one earned run on one hit with one walk and one strike out. Mike Broadway finished the game with 1.2 innings giving up one earned run on two hits with three strike outs. Burns, Torres, Arteaga each got singles while Gallagher got a double and a single. Schwindel hit his team leading sixth home run and Orlando hit his third home run. Orlando hit his home run in the top of the ninth inning driving in two runs and increasing the Storm Chasers the lead. Chasers went on to win the game with Justin Grimm blowing the save and Mike Broadway (2-0) picked up his second win.
Storm Chasers finish off the road trip against New Orleans Baby Cakes on Tuesday May 15, 2018. Then after 21 straight games the Storm Chasers will get a day off on Wednesday. Before starting a series at the Iowa Cubs. Storm Chasers will return home on Monday May 21 for a series against New Orleans Baby Cakes and the Round Rock Express.
