Hunter Dozier starting at 1B tonight for KC

According to Jeffrey Flanagan on Twitter, the Royals have placed 1B Lucas Duda on the DL and recalled Hunter Dozier.

This will mark the first time since 2016 that Dozier will look to get even semi-regular time on the big league club. He will start at 1B and bat 9th for the Royals tonight.

This is something of a worthy news headline for Royals fans. Sure, Dozier was only slashing .254/.385/.339 with 1 HR in Omaha this year, but the Royals have opted to play Dozier right away instead of giving Cheslor Cuthbert the nod at first. What this may mean is that the Royals do in fact value Dozier as a prospect, and may be moving past the idea that Cuthbert is blocking him from the big league club. Some of that may seem obvious, but the Royals continuous play of Cuthbert at 1B this year while Dozier was in Omaha started to make me wonder.

In any case, a long road for Dozier has finally lead him to the big leagues, at least for the time being.
