The Wilmington Blue Rocks offense was electric all week, but it exploded over the weekend, as the Blue Rocks scored 31 runs in 4 games against Frederick.
On Thursday night, Wilmington scored 15 runs in an offensive explosion. Rudy Martin finished 3-5 with a walk, and was a HR shy of the cycle. Chase Vallot hit a grand slam, his second HR of the season, and finished the game with 5 RBI. Khalil Lee had a nice game going 1-2 with 3 walks. Pretty much the entire lineup was firing on all cylinders that night.
Then again on Saturday, the Blue Rocks offense went for 12 runs in a 12-10 comeback win. Kort Peterson finished that game 2-5 with 2 HR and 5 RBI. Khalil Lee doubled, and DJ Burt added 2 hits to the tally.
Believe it or not, there was some good pitching in that weekend series. During a 2-0 victory on Friday night, Wilmington starter Arnaldo Hernandez fired 6 scoreless innings and added 2 K’s. Grant Gavin and Bryan Brickhouse combined to throw three scoreless innings in relief to seal the deal for Wilmington.
The Blue Rocks are headed home this week for a 6-game homestand starting on Tuesday night against the Potomac Nationals.
