Eric Hosmer will not return to KC, signs with Padres

In a bit of heart wrenching news, it appears that Eric Hosmer is headed to San Diego to play for the Padres on an 8-year deal.

Eric Hosmer, the beginning and end of the Royals epic run, has come and gone. He brought with him a two AL pennants, a World Championship, a renewed passion for baseball in Kansas City, and thousands upon thousands of new Royals fans.

This move isn’t all bad. Because Hosmer will pass the $50M guaranteed threshold, the Royals will receive the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft this coming June. Who knows, maybe the next Eric Hosmer will be awaiting the Royals at #32.
