I expect the numbers to seriously improve sooner or later. There is a lot to like about Lara. Smooth delivery with deception, fastball that can touch upper-90s, swing and miss stuff. Lara could turn into a legit prospect once he smoothens out.

Ned Yost said that Hunter Dozier will primarily work out at first base.

But for now, the club is also making contingency plans. Yost said Wednesday that Hunter Dozier, a third baseman and former first-round pick, will open camp working primarily at first base. Other options include third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert, second baseman Whit Merrifield and prospects Ryan O’Hearn and Frank Schwindel. The latter two players are here as non-roster invitees and not members of the 40-man roster. That the list of options includes two other potential starters in Cuthbert and Merrifield underscores the lack of depth at the position.

Shaun Newkirk of Royals Review argues that the Royals shouldn’t waste Hunter Dozier at first base.

Dozier should be the teams starting third baseman. Full stop.

The Royals High-A affiliate, the Wilmington Blue Rocks, have released their full promotional schedule.

I, for one, was excited for Ian Kennedy’s 2017 season. If he and Duffy could be the 1-2 punch that they were in 2016, the Royals would have a shot at the playoffs together one last time. That did not even come close to happening.
